According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB), older car models are hot commodities for car thieves because they can get good money for stolen vehicle parts. To find out if your car is in danger of being stolen, look at the following list of the 10 most frequently stolen cars in the United States.
According to the NICB’s annual report of the most frequently stolen cars in the United States, the most stolen vehicles in 2016 included the following:
  1. Honda Accord – 50,427
  2. Honda Civic – 49,547
  3. Ford Pickup (full size)- 32,721
  4. Chevrolet Pickup (full size) – 31,238
  5. Toyota Camry – 16,732
  6. Nissan Altima – 12,221
  7. Dodge Pickup (full size) – 12,128
  8. Toyota Corolla – 11,989
  9. Chevrolet Impala – 9,749
  10. Jeep Cherokee – 9,245

The NICB’s report also includes a list of the most frequently stolen the model year 2016 vehicles. The top 10 included the following:
  1. Toyota Camry – 1,113
  2. Nissan Altima – 1,063
  3. Toyota Corolla – 982
  4. Dodge Charger – 945
  5. Ford Fusion – 914
  6. Hyundai Sonata – 887
  7. GMC Sierra Pickup – 884
  8. Hyundai Elantra – 832
  9. Ford F-Series Pickup – 738
  10. Ford Transit Van – 669
